does living presently become a denial of truths? what i mean by this is when does focusing on the present serve as opportunity to ignore the frustrations of the past or allow for a clouded or naive view of the future. i suppose ultimately that the idea behind present living is that the past and future are only shadows of existence. the past has left and is found only in memories. and memories are subject to changes in perspective. the future is unpredictable. there are sometimes patterns that are recognizable but anything truly is possible. but today i have found myself pondering this over and over. spent several hours reading camus and watts last night. needless to say, they leave me in contemplations that are a bit unsettling.

  1. I too have been thinking something similar.
Sometimes by staying in the present we fail to see the situation from the distance and objectively and we fail to see that pattern in our lives a thing that could possibly be a hindrance on some instances...like situations or addictions.
    Strange but true.

  2. i just saw your comment today and think it's even more relevent to contemplate when this thought is a week behind me. i become consumed with today again and loose sight of a moment of illumination.
